Welcome!

A few words from our founder to start you on your writing journey…

Writing for publication is a dream for many. Possibly, you’ve thought about trying it yourself. Or, you’ve tried it but would like to get better at it. Maybe you didn’t think you had what it takes to be a writer. Maybe you were simply afraid to take that first step. Or, more than likely, you haven’t had time to look into it. Learning to write is achievable.

Creative writing is a mode of expression you can do. If it’s something you’re interested in doing you should, at the very least, try. Take one of our introductory classes. We will kindly and carefully help you learn how to write or improve if you already write. We will lead you along the path to becoming a novice writer or, for the non-novice, a better writer.

We employ a softer touch. We try to make our classes as safe and as supportive as possible. All of us here at Pen & Paper Writing Workshops are working writers, and we love what we do.

We want to share our passion with writers-to-be and other fellow writers. In our classes, we simplify the writing process. We break it down A to B to C, step-by-step, one, two, three. Smaller increments of information are imparted to the student. This way, the student won’t feel overwhelmed and can work through any insecurities brought on by the creative process.

Being creative can be a solitary activity—especially writing. We offer a community. You will not have to try alone. Moreover, every writer, experienced or not, has their very own unique and personal way of putting words down on paper.  We’re writers, and we understand. We will help you find the writer inside you.

In our classes, you will proceed at your own pace. We don’t push. We support and encourage. We suggest. We offer. Communicate with us one-on-one, so we know where you’re having difficulties or, better yet, successes.

By trying you’ll learn if this thing called “writing” is for you, or if it’s not. And, who knows? Maybe it will be—for you—something you enjoy and are really great at.

We’re a community of writers at all levels here at Pen & Paper Writing Workshops. Our community is wholly important to us. Come, join us. Let us teach you. Learn from us. Learn with us. Most importantly—write with us!
