At Pen & Paper Writing Workshops, we love words. We love reading them. And, we especially love writing them. Our goal as a writing school is to share our knowledge and expertise with anyone wishing to start writing; anyone wanting to continue on a writing path already underway; or, for the more experienced writer, to hone and improve their craft. Everyone has a story buried deep inside. That story needs to be told. We are here to help you write it so it can be shared with the world.

Take one of our introductory classes.  We will kindly and carefully help you learn how to write, or improve if you already write. We will lead you along the path to becoming a novice writer, or a better writer.

We love words! We love books!

We love the printed word in all its forms!

We love movies and TV shows too! But, most of all, we love writing.

Our workshops are for the beginning writer, the more advanced writer who needs further guidance and for the established writer who wants to hone his or her craft. We offer online writing workshops in fiction, non-fiction, and screenwriting.

We aim to teach you in a safe and supportive environment, depending on your skill level, fiction, nonfiction and screenplay writing basics. For the experienced writer, we will teach you more advanced writing techniques. Moreover, for writers at all levels, we will help you over hurdles that might be holding you back. Our ultimate goal is to make you the best writer you can be.

Established, working writers teach our classes. Our current roster of instructors includes C. Gregory Thompson (founder of Pen & Paper Writing Workshops) for fiction, Sara Marchant for nonfiction, and Senta Scarborough for screenwriting.

These three instructors met while they were students at the University of California, Riverside/Palm Desert‘s MFA in Creative Writing and Writing for the Performing Arts program and quickly bonded over their love of the written word. Since receiving their degrees, they have continued to work together by supporting each other through their various writing projects and endeavors.

They now look forward to sharing that support, plus their knowledge and expertise with other aspiring and established writers.

Write with us!

C. Gregory Thompson’s short stories are sharp and original slices cut from slightly warped, off-kilter worlds where the fantastical and magical often collides with the hard-bitten truth of daily life. It tastes fresh and fearless.
